Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Madeira Casks – Pride of Islay – Thompson Bros. (70cl, 46.1%)

This is a 12 year old unpeated Bunnahabhain from Islay, selected and bottled by Thompson Bros. of Dornoch as part of its Pride of Islay series. The whisky spent its last five years in first-fill Madeira barriques. It is bottled at 46.1% without added colour, and shows a warm amber in the glass. The nose combines ripe red berries with walnuts and a clear maritime note. On the palate, rich walnut oil and the juicy sweetness of red fruit give a full mouthfeel, lifted by fine sea salt. The finish keeps its nutty tones with a touch of salt and a dry edge.
