Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 46.3% ABV. It is made from unpeated malted barley, which sets it apart from most Islay whiskies, and it matures for at least 12 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Without peat smoke, the nutty character and sherry influence come forward. The spirit is distilled twice in copper pot stills on the north-east coast of the island.
The nose is dried fruit, honey and a light maritime note, with nuts, vanilla, sherry, citrus and sea salt. The palate is full and round, with a gentle spiciness, and the finish is long and warming.
