Bunnahabhain 12 Years Old Cask Strength is the 2025 edition of an unpeated Islay malt, bottled at 56.4% ABV without chill-filtering and in natural colour. It matured in warehouses on the island's rugged north-east coast.
Most of the whisky spent its time in second-fill Oloroso sherry casks, with first-fill and refill casks added for depth and nuance. The emphasis falls on structure and a coastal note.
The nose offers golden raisins, dried apricots, toasted hazelnuts and a light floral touch over sea salt. The palate has malty sweetness, gentle oak spice, sultanas and hazelnut. The finish is long, with oak, light tobacco, sea salt and cocoa.
