Bunnahabhain – 12 Years Old (70cl, 46.3%)

Bunnahabhain 12 Years Old is a single malt from the Bunnahabhain distillery on Islay, bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle. It first appeared in 1979 and was the first single malt to join the distillery's core range. It is matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The style is mostly unpeated, so fruit, nuts and caramel lead, with a little maritime saltiness in place of heavy smoke. The nose is fresh and aromatic, with light floral notes, dried fruit, soft vanilla and a hint of salt. On the palate, fruit, nuts, vanilla and caramel sit together with gentle wood. The finish is long, with dried fruit, caramel, nuts and soft spices.
