A 42 year old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled on 16 December 1973 and bottled on 11 January 2016 by Signatory Vintage in its Rare Reserve range. It came from refill sherry butt 12145 and filled 427 bottles at 47.9%.
The distillery's style is maritime and largely unpeated. This bottling is natural colour and not chill-filtered.
The nose offers sea air, pale barley malt and almonds with a note of pepper. On the palate, strong oak spice and creamy salted caramel meet dark chocolate, ginger and a hint of ash. The finish is exceptionally long and full, with sweetly spiced oak.
