A 48-year-old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, bottled by Signatory Vintage for its 35th anniversary Rare Reserve. Distilled on 28 February 1975, it spent its whole life in one Oloroso sherry butt, chosen by Andrew W. Symington, and was bottled on 5 October 2023 in a 70cl bottle. 361 bottles were filled, without colouring or chill-filtration.
The nose offers sweet sherry, tobacco and fine chocolate with dark dried fruit and ripe oak. On the palate come dates, raisins and prunes with cloves, roasted walnuts and firm sherry spice. The finish is exceptionally long, with red berries, bitter chocolate and dry, elegant oak.
