Bunnahabhain – 2004 16 Years Mòine Sauternes Finish (70cl, 53.8%)

This Bunnahabhain Mòine is a Distillery Exclusive, distilled on 1 December 2004 and bottled on 20 January 2021 at 53.8% in a 70cl bottle. It spent nine years in refill hogsheads before a further seven years in rare Sauternes hogsheads. The smoky malt was blended from several casks that matured fully in the coastal warehouses on Bunnahabhain Bay. Just 885 bottles were produced. The nose combines sweet vanilla custard, raisins, intense dark fruit, light spice, chocolate and honeyed cashews beneath a hint of smoke. The palate opens sweet, with sour cherries and white chocolate, then oily saltiness and a gentle peat glow. The finish is a long, smouldering peat fire with sweet dates, figs and roasted hazelnuts.
