This is a smoky Bunnahabhain single malt, identified as Staoisha, distilled in 2013 and bottled by Thompson Bros. after 11 years of maturation. It was aged in an Oloroso sherry hogshead and filled into 381 bottles at 56.1%.
The nose is marine and deep, with marinara sauce, plums, calamondin and maple-glazed ham. On the palate come Lapsang Souchong tea, kombu, green tea and a touch of mezcal, with redcurrants, blackberries and smoked pork in Oloroso sherry. The finish is warm and lasting, with cracked pepper, red fruit and soft smoke.
