This is a 21-year-old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, bottled at cask strength of 53.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Most of its maturation was spent in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, after which it was finished in Pedro Ximénez casks. The Pedro Ximénez adds a denser, sweeter, syrupy side, with toffee and figs.
The nose shows dark dried fruit such as figs and raisins, burnt almonds and toffee, with leather and a light salty sea note. The palate is full and velvety, with raisin and syrup sweetness, mocha and espresso, cinnamon and warm oak spice. The finish is long and warming, with dark chocolate, dried fruit, oak and a lingering, faintly salty note.
