This Bunnahabhain is a 32-year-old single malt from Islay, matured in a single refill American hogshead, number 5701. It was distilled in 1989 and bottled on 10 January 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail for its Connoisseurs Choice series.
The cask gave 162 bottles at a natural cask strength of 44.6%, without chill-filtration or added colour. It is not smoky.
The nose opens with sweet pineapple and coconut, then dried apricots and toasted malt. The palate has crisp green apples and nectarines with fresh citrus. In the finish the whisky turns noticeably spicier and leaves a salty note.
