A 42 year old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled on 16 December 1973 and bottled by Signatory Vintage on 11 January 2016. It is bottled at a cask strength of 47.9% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The whisky matured in a refill sherry butt, and the cask yielded 427 bottles.
The nose offers ripe banana, guava, mango and peach, with a light sharpness and a hint of sea air. The palate brings caramelised brown sugar, earthy oak, a pinch of ash, salted caramel and chocolate ginger biscuits. The finish is long and satisfying.
