Bunnahabhain – 44 Year Old Director's Special The Single Malts of Scotland (70cl, 42.4%)

This is a 44 year old single cask Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, released in the Director's Special series of The Single Malts of Scotland. The distillery style is described as largely unpeated. It is bottled at 42.4% in a 70cl bottle and comes in a solid wooden box with a metal plaque. The cask gave 492 bottles. The whisky has no added colouring and was not chill-filtered. The nose brings ripe plums and creamy caramel with marshmallow, chewing gum, gingerbread, cardamom and delicate wildflowers. The palate has sweet mandarin, peppermint, heather honey, tobacco, rooibos and spicy oak. The finish is long, with peppermint, menthol, liquorice and old oak.
