An Cladach is a single malt from Bunnahabhain, which stands on the north-east coast of Islay. The name is Gaelic for 'The Coast', and the whisky takes its inspiration from the shoreline around the distillery. It comes in a 1 litre bottle.
It matures in American oak ex-bourbon casks and sherry casks, and is bottled at 50% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. Unlike many Islay whiskies, it is not dominated by smoke.
The nose offers honey, caramel, raisins and candied orange with a touch of sea salt. On the palate come heather honey, toffee and dried fruit, and the finish is long and warm, with cocoa and a coastal minerality.
