A 2012 single cask Bunnahabhain from the Moine range, matured in a butt. Moine is Scots Gaelic for peat, and this peated expression comes from an Islay distillery that mainly makes unpeated whisky.
It was bottled at cask strength, 50.3%, in a 70cl bottle. Flapjack, bacon and smoke run through it.
The nose is hessian, tar, smoke and fresh sea air. On the palate it is sweet and bold, with smoked fish, chewy malt and smoky bacon, and the finish brings coal embers, smoke and peat.
