This is a 25 year old Irish single malt from Bushmills, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It was first matured in bourbon barrels and sherry butts, then finished for 21 years in first-fill ruby port pipes.
The port pipes were sourced from a family cooperage and made from European oak. Only 3,500 bottles were released.
The nose brings ripe dark berries and hedgerow fruits with honey and gentle toasted oak. On the palate, sweet almond leads into caramelised cherries, plums and blackberries, then dark chocolate and sweet spices, with honey and damson. The finish is very long and warming, with oak, port sweetness and delicate spice.
