This is a single cask Irish single malt from Old Bushmills in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It was distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2000, after 24 to 25 years in ex-bourbon barrels, at 40% ABV.
It comes from the Millennium private cask programme, in which individuals bought entire barrels, so each bottling is unique.
The nose is soft and elegant, with honeycomb, banana custard, vanilla, light oak and dried tropical fruit. The palate is balanced and creamy, with malt, honey, gentle spice, oak, cereal and a touch of white pepper. The finish is medium to long, with honeycomb, soft spice, a faint nutty note and vanilla pod.
