Cadenhead's Enigma is a peated Highland single malt from an undisclosed distillery, bottled by Wm. Cadenhead Ltd. of Campbeltown. It was distilled in 2009 and matured for 14 years in refill sherry butts and refill ex-bourbon hogsheads. It is bottled at 53.9% without chill filtration and with natural colour, in an outturn of 1,986 bottles.
The nose brings bacon frazzles, vanilla custard, banana fritter and butterscotch mousse, with barley water and dried cranberry. The palate has burning embers, candle smoke and gorse bushes over treacle sweetness. The finish is thick and treacly, with damp hay, flint, nutmeg and gingerbread.
