Caisteal Chamuis 12 Year Old is a heavily peated blended malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Mossburn Distillers at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It starts as a blend of Island malts aged for twelve years in refill American oak hogsheads. The whisky is then re-aged in Oloroso sherry casks, including Mossburn's own solera.
The age has slightly softened the maritime punch of the peat. The sherry casks add oak spice and light sweetness, with plenty of phenolic flavour and a distinctive smoky finish.
