Caol Ila 12 Year Old is a peated Islay single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It was launched in June 2002 as the distillery's entry-level expression.
Caol Ila was founded in 1846 on the shore of the strait between Islay and Jura, a site chosen for its access to clean water from Loch Nam Ban.
Tasting notes describe a fresh, sweetly fruity and smooth-bodied dram, oily in texture, with tar and smoke alongside boiled sweets, citrus and a hint of maritime saltiness.
