Caol Ila 12 Years is a single malt from the Caol Ila distillery on Islay, in Scotland, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery was built in 1846. Its founder, Hector Henderson, sold it in 1854 to Norman Buchanan.
The nose is smoky and spicy, with grass, fatty notes, cigar leaf and smoked ham. On the palate it has good body and an oily, tarry texture, with elegant smoke and a hint of boiled sweets. The finish is long, warm and peppery, with smoke running right through it.
