Caol Ila – 12 Years

Caol Ila 12 Year Old is a Scotch single malt from the island of Islay, made from heavily peated barley and distilled in copper pot stills with long necks. The distillery was founded in 1846. The whisky matures for at least 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, which add citrus and vanilla to the peaty base. The nose is intense with peat and charcoal, alongside lemon peel, green apple and a hint of sea salt. The palate is smoky and oily, with roasted nuts, honey, vanilla and gingerbread spice. The finish is long and warm, with lingering smoke, oak and a lightly sweet aftertaste.
