This is an 11 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled at a cask strength of 51% for Auld Goonsy's Malt, a brand of Global Whisky Limited that releases only single casks. It was distilled on 3 August 2010, matured in an American oak hogshead and bottled on 22 November 2021. The outturn was 311 bottles, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The nose is maritime peat smoke and sea air, with dark fruit and a background sweetness. The palate is powerfully smoky yet sweet, with herbal notes and sultanas in maple syrup. The finish is long and smoky, turning salty, phenolic and drier, like a dying campfire.
