A 2011 Caol Ila from Islay, finished in Moscatel casks and bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd at 50.4%.
The nose is big, with smoky bacon and maple syrup, peat smoke, charcoal, sticky plums and polished oak. The palate has a swirl of smoke and sweet sherry notes, leading to walnuts, figs, marmalade on toast and cigar aromas. Spice comes through in the finish, with smoke lingering on the palate.
