Caol Ila 2016 is an 8 year old Islay single malt bottled for The Maltman, the brand of Meadowside Blending Co. of Glasgow. It was distilled in June 2016 and bottled in October 2024 at 53.9%. The release is 303 bottles, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The nose combines maritime peat smoke and a salty sea breeze with wet rope, tobacco leaf and citrus. The palate is heavily smoky, with chocolate fudge sweetness and toasted lemon peel, then oak and dried banana chips. The finish is long, soft and warming, with black pepper and salty liquorice, drying like a dying campfire.
