Caol Ila – Distillers Edition 1998-2011 (70cl, 43%)

This is a limited Islay single malt from Caol Ila, the 1998-2011 Distillers Edition, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The outturn was 6,000 bottles. The whisky matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks and then received a finish in Moscatel wine casks, which adds dried fruit, citrus, honey and spice to the smoke typical of the distillery. The nose combines strong smoke with dried fruit, citrus, honey and spice. On the palate come peat, smoke, toffee, honey, dried fruit, spice and a hint of salt. The finish is long, with smoky and maritime notes.
