This is an 11 year old Cardhu single malt, part of the 2020 Special Releases and bottled at 56%. The whisky was drawn from refill, new and ex-bourbon American oak, and the label carries a bee, continuing the Rare by Nature theme begun in the 2019 releases.
The nose is led by orchard fruit, with crisp apple, pear and grapes, turning more tropical over time with pineapple and Galia melon. Rhubarb and custard sweets, pencil shavings and a little cinnamon sit alongside.
The palate is creamy and full, with icing sugar, marmalade on toast, raisins and gentle white pepper. The finish is medium to long, with pepper and cinnamon warmth.
