Cardhu 14 Year Old 'The Scarlet Blossoms of Black Rock' is the 2021 Diageo Special Releases bottling from Cardhu Distillery in Knockando, Speyside, part of the Legends Untold collection. It was distilled in 2006 and aged for 14 years in refill American oak casks, then finished in red wine casks.
It is bottled at natural cask strength of 55.5% (111 proof) in a 750ml bottle, without chill filtration. The label shows a tree in scarlet bloom on blackened rock, and a QR code on the bottle brings up an augmented reality animation.
The nose is fresh and lightly fruity, with white grape, lychee, green apple, pear, orange zest, heather honey and coconut, and a Parma violet note that develops with time.
