Cardhu – 16 Year Old Special Release 2022 (70cl)

This is a 16 year old Cardhu single malt from the Speyside distillery, issued as part of the Special Releases series from Diageo in 2022. It comes in a 70cl bottle in the Special Release livery, as a limited edition. The release was chosen for the series on the strength of its cask selection and its longer maturation compared with the standard bottlings. The nose is described as ripe red fruits, dried apricots and raisins, with spiced sherry notes, vanilla and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is rich in texture, with fruity sweetness meeting spiced oak and nuts, and the finish is long and balanced with lingering fruit and spice.
