A Carignano del Sulcis DOC Riserva from Mesa, with a deep ruby colour and a decisive character that is not harsh. The aroma plays on ripe red and black fruit, Mediterranean scrub and light spice. On the palate there is soft fruit flesh with a fresh acidic vein; the tannins are present and well integrated, giving a solid structure through to a dry, persistent finish. It suits rustic, flavourful dishes such as roasts, grilled meats, game and aged cheeses. Serve around 16-18 °C, with a brief aeration to release the more complex aromas.
