Cask Islay Classic A.D. Rattray (70cl, 46%)

Cask Islay Classic is a peated Islay single malt from A.D. Rattray, part of its Casks of Scotland range. It is a small batch vatted from up to 20 selected casks, matured in bourbon casks and brought to 46% before bottling, so it is not a single cask release. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Smoke sits alongside barley, citrus fruit and burnt toffee, with sweet and salty impressions set against the peat. The nose has smoke and beach-fire embers with grilled scallops and lemon. The palate offers buttery caramel candy and roasted peanuts with sweet, salty peat. The finish keeps light ash and pipe tobacco.
