Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye Cask Proof Edition is a rye whisky from Purcellville, Virginia, in a 70cl bottle at 58%. It is made entirely from local Virginia rye, mashed and fermented on site, then distilled in copper pot stills. It matures in new charred Virginia oak. Strength varies from batch to batch, and the edition is released about twice a year. It is not coloured or chill-filtered. The nose has orange, dry rye grain and honey with spice and a little black pepper. The palate is full and intense, opening with plum and orange before leather, honey and spice. The finish is long and peppery, with leather.
