Roundstone Rye Cask Proof is a Virginia rye whisky from Catoctin Creek, bottled at 58% ABV. It is distilled from a 100% rye mash and matured in new charred oak casks. The Cask Proof version is released about twice a year.
The colour is a deep, dark amber. The nose brings caramel, brown sugar, butter toffee, rye spice, citrus, aniseed and charcoal, and the palate adds cocoa, candied citrus, dried fruit and herbal notes. The finish is long, beginning with toasted marshmallow and cocoa. It works in cocktails as well as neat.
