Chicken Cock is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof). The brand dates from 1856 and became the house whiskey at the Cotton Club in New York during Prohibition. This version is bottled in a replica of the original apothecary-style bottle.
The mash bill is 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, and the bourbon is aged for a minimum of four years.
The nose is sweet, with toasted oak, dried fruit, caramel, vanilla bean and citrus zest. The palate is creamy, with butterscotch, honeyed corn, vanilla and peppery rye. The finish is medium to long, with salted caramel, gentle oak and light baking spice.
