This is an 11 year old Lowland single malt from 2010, bottled in 2022 at 50% ABV in Claxton's Exploration Series, in a 70cl bottle. It is a single cask release, matured in a former Ruby Port cask.
The port cask gave a fresh, elegant and delicate whisky.
The nose is cherries, apricots and red fruit sweets, with orange fruit emerging over time. The palate is powerfully sweet, with flambeed cherries, cloves and mint, and hints of Cointreau and Rioja wine. The finish is sweetly spiced and lightly drying, with dark fruit and burnt sugar.
