Ruadh Maor is the name given to the peated Highland malt from Glenturret. This 10 year old was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2022 at 50% ABV for Claxton's Exploration Series, in a 70cl bottle.
It matured in a bourbon hogshead and was then finished in a red wine barrique.
The nose shows burnt liquorice, roasted sweet nuts, apricots and white grapes. On the palate there is sweet peat smoke, roasted nuts, white chocolate and lightly peppery white spices. The finish is warming and lively, with sweet wood, sweet peat, white pepper and barbecue spices.
