Clonakilty Port Cask is a blended Irish whiskey that brings together single pot still and single grain whiskey. Part of it comes from former bourbon casks and part from former port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley. It is bottled at 43.6% in a 70cl bottle, with no colouring added.
The fruit runs from sweet orchard notes to cherries and raisins, with gentle spice alongside.
The nose is fresh sweet apples, ripe peaches and vanilla, creamy, with a light touch of wood behind. On the palate cherries and raisins lead, with soft spice and a hint of cardamom. The finish is medium in length, with mild spice and a fine note of chocolate.
