This is a 12 year old Clynelish from the 2022 Special Release series, bottled at 58.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Finishing casks have added sweetness and spice to the distillery character, leaving only a slight trace of waxiness.
The colour is bright gold and the body medium. The nose is creamy, with fruity mincemeat, tinned pears and heather honey over spicy oak, and a drop of water brings out a waxy hint.
On the palate it is smooth and rich, sweet like wine, and balanced by pepper and oak spice. The finish is quite long, with chilli spice and drying pepper.
