This is bottle number 99 of the Clynelish 17 Year Old Manager's Dram, a Highland single malt from a sherry cask. It was bottled in 1998 at a natural strength of 61.8% and comes in a 70cl bottle.
Manager's Drams were picked by the distillery manager and generally given to workers and friends of the distillery.
Neat, the nose shows milk chocolate and coffee alongside plum spirit, kirsch, beeswax, ginger, old wood and liquorice. With water, wax and fruit emerge with nougat, hawthorn tea, wood smoke and honey. The palate is very hot until water is added, then gives caramel toffee, smoked salmon, dried ginger, allspice and apricots.
