This is a 17 year old Highland single malt from Clynelish, released as a Manager's Dram from a sherry cask. It was bottled in 1998 at a natural strength of 61.8%, in a 70cl bottle numbered 140.
Manager's Drams were chosen by the distillery manager, and the bottles were generally given to workers and friends of the distillery.
Neat, the nose is milk chocolate and coffee, with plum spirit, kirsch, beeswax, ginger, old wood and liquorice. With water it opens to wax and fruit, nougat, hawthorn tea, wood smoke and honey. The palate is very hot neat, but with water shows caramel toffee, smoked salmon, dried ginger, allspice and apricots.
