This Clynelish was distilled on 16 May 1972 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection on 7 November 2022. It spent fifty years in a single refill American hogshead. Cask 5335 produced 135 bottles at a natural cask strength of 58%, with no chill-filtration and no added colour.
The nose offers fresh apple, walnut and a little ginger, with Sicilian lime and a fine touch of aged leather. On the palate, soft poached pear gives way to apricot and banana, with a hint of vanilla, pineapple and ripe oak. The finish is full and long, with citrus peel lingering.
