Clynelish – 22 Year Old 1972 Rare Malts Selection (75cl, 58.6%)

A Clynelish single malt from the Highlands, distilled in 1972 and bottled in 1995 at 22 years old. It comes at a cask strength of 58.64% in a 75cl bottle, as part of the Rare Malts Selection, the series of single malts that Diageo released between 1995 and 2005. This is an official bottling made for the American market. The nose opens with cake, pastries and praline, then beeswax, paraffin and a little incense, before white wood smoke, resin and tropical fruit arrive. On the palate come bitter orange, wax, smoked tea and butterscotch. The finish is very long, waxy, orangey and resinous.
