This is a 41-year-old single cask Clynelish from the Highlands, distilled on Hogmanay 1973 and matured in a hogshead. It is an official Diageo bottling at natural cask strength, 45.2% ABV, in a 70cl bottle, and every bottle comes from the same cask. It is the oldest single malt bottled at Clynelish so far. The nose takes time to open, with something metallic at first, then stewed rhubarb, leather polish, nettle soup, sage, porridge oats, old books and ink. The palate is bone dry and mineral, with ashes, pepper, mustard, hay, tar and seaweed smoke. The finish is long, dry, sharp and ashy.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
