A coastal Highland single malt from Clynelish, distilled in June 1971 and bottled in 2005 by M&H as part of its Cask Selection. It was matured in a refill hogshead and bottled at cask strength, 45.7%, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is punchy, with fresh gruyere, fern and lettuce, then cider, cooked cream and apple juice. The palate is sharp, salty, herbal and peppery, with strong coffee, green tea and burnt caramel, turning woody and tannic. The finish is long and slightly bitter, with strong tea and liquorice root.
