Coalition Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey (75cl, 54.4%)

Coalition Barrel Proof is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey bottled at cask strength, 54.4% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. It is made from a mash bill of rye and malted rye only and aged for five years in American white oak. Unlike the other Coalition ryes, it has no Bordeaux wine-barrel finish. It comes from Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood, where the grain is grown at a farm about a mile away and distilled in all-copper pot stills without automation. It is amber-gold with a full, deep nose. The palate brings spice, butterscotch and orange peel, with cedar, tobacco leaf and herbal tea, leading to a long, warm, peppery finish.
