This is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey, aged six years and bottled in bond at 50% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled, aged and bottled at Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood under Jim Rutledge, formerly Master Distiller at Four Roses.
The mash is made entirely from Rymin rye grown on the distillery's own estate, and the whisky comes from just 70 barrels. Cream of Kentucky returned in 2018 under Rutledge.
The nose offers spearmint, fresh rye bread, cinnamon and brown sugar, with raisins, plum and a little pipe tobacco. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, with rye spice, caramel, orange zest and hints of milk chocolate and hazelnut. The finish is warm and mellow, with allspice.
