Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino (75cl, 16%)

Cocchi Storico is a sweet, amber Vermouth di Torino from Piedmont, made to the original recipe of Giulio Cocchi. It is bottled at 16% in a 75cl bottle. The base is wine, flavoured with an infusion of herbs, spices and aromatic woods. Cinchona and rhubarb lightly tint the wine brown, and sugar browned over a flame deepens the amber colour. Artemisia and citrus lead the botanicals, with sandalwood, musk, myrrh and nutmeg among the minor ones. It tastes of cocoa and bitter orange, with a crunchy, cotton-candy sweetness that rounds off the bitterness, and light notes of camphor and rosemary. Serve it over ice with a small lemon zest, or use it in a Negroni or Manhattan.
