Collio DOC Merlot - Formentini dal Collio

A Merlot from the Collio region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, produced by Formentini dal Collio. It is deep ruby red with garnet reflections, with aromas of ripe red fruit such as cherry and plum, sweet spice, chocolate and a light vegetal note. The palate is rich, with soft, well-integrated tannins, a full harmonious body and a long, persistent finish with a pleasant acidic vein. Ageing in wood adds complexity without overpowering the fruit. It pairs with grilled red meats, stews and aged cheeses, and can also be enjoyed on its own.
