A cask strength blended malt from Compass Box, bottled at 56.7% in a 70cl bottle. Origin Story marks twenty years of The Peat Monster and its American roots. 9,126 bottles were filled in December 2022, without chill filtration or added colour.
Caol Ila makes up 63.9% of the blend, alongside 35% Williamson Islay malt and 1.1% Highland malt blend. Part of the blend was finished in casks of new American white oak made in Missouri for Compass Box, which adds vanilla and cinnamon.
The nose offers soot, barbecue smoke, green apple and citrus oils. Tar and smoked almonds lead the palate, and the finish is long, with tarry smoke and lemon.
