Craoi na Móna is Gaelic for 'heart of the bog'. This is a 10 year old Irish single malt distilled at Cooley and bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd.
After ten years in ex-bourbon casks of American oak, the whiskey was moved into ex-Laphroaig casks to pick up a sweet smoke.
The nose brings peat, charred wood, scorched grass and ferns, with yellow fruit, lemon meringue, sugared almonds and a little rhubarb. The palate is soft and lightly sweet, holding the peat smoke and medicinal notes in check, with peaches and cream, orange citrus and rosehip. The finish is long and smooth, with a peaty edge.
