Concannon Irish Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

An Irish whiskey in a 75cl bottle at 40% (80 proof), made as a collaboration between Livermore Valley-based Concannon Vineyard and Ireland's Cooley distillery and first released in early 2012. It is a blend of malted barley and corn whiskey, aged for a minimum of four years in bourbon barrels, then finished in Concannon Petite Sirah wine barrels. That last stage adds a fruity character. The nose combines vanilla, honey, apple and toasted malt. The palate balances honey sweetness, spice and oak. The finish is light, with a slow-building warmth at the back of the throat.
